Advanced Pain Management for Everyday Life
Echo PMR is a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation practice built exclusively for patients recovering from serious traumatic accidents, personal injury, and the pain that follows. Led by board-certified physiatrist Dr. Umar Mahmood, we deliver coordinated, physician-led care for the injuries — and the people — the system too often overlooks.
Welcome to Echo PMR — where advanced pain management meets comprehensive rehabilitation.
Recovery after a serious injury is rarely straightforward. Long after the accident, pain can persist, movement may feel limited, and everyday life can become more difficult than expected. Sleep changes. Focus becomes harder. Energy fades. What appears to be one injury often affects far more than a single area of the body.
At Echo PMR, we are here for that journey.
As a specialized physiatry and pain management practice, we care for patients recovering from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, falls, and other personal injuries. Our approach goes beyond treating symptoms alone—we evaluate how injury impacts function, movement, comfort, and overall quality of life.
We believe effective recovery means treating the whole person, not just the site of pain. Through advanced, evidence-based treatment options and individualized rehabilitation plans, our goal is to help patients restore function, regain confidence, and return to living more fully.
Because recovery is not simply about reducing pain—it’s about helping you move forward.
What Makes Echo PMR Different
-
Built for Serious Trauma
We do not treat everything. We treat patients whose lives have been disrupted by significant traumatic injury — and that focus is what makes the difference. Every patient is evaluated by a board-certified PM&R physician with specialized training in interventional spine and traumatic brain injury.
-
Physician-Led Pain Management
Pain after a serious accident is real, complex, and treatable. We diagnose the actual pain generator — disc, joint, nerve, soft tissue, or brain — and build a pain management plan that favors non-surgical, non-opioid solutions whenever clinically appropriate.
-
Coordinated Personal Injury Recovery
Through our partnerships with Echo Clinic and Echo Trauma and Rehabilitation, your physical therapy, occupational therapy, neuropsychology, and behavioral health are coordinated under one plan, with one accountable physician — start to finish.
A Different Standard for Traumatic Injury & Pain Management
Most patients injured in a serious accident are routed through a fragmented system: an ER visit, a stack of imaging, a few weeks of generic therapy, a prescription, and a discharge — all before they ever feel whole again.
Echo PMR was built to replace that pattern with something better: physician-led pain management and rehabilitation that treats serious traumatic injury as the multi-system event it actually is.
The Echo PMR Care Model
Step 1 — Comprehensive Trauma Screening
At your first visit, we perform a standardized screening for the three most common consequences of significant trauma:
Physical impairment — musculoskeletal injury, spine pathology, radiculopathy, soft-tissue injury, gait and balance changes, autonomic dysfunction.
Cognitive impairment — concentration, memory, processing speed, and executive function changes consistent with concussion or traumatic brain injury.
Psychological impairment — post-traumatic stress symptoms, mood changes, sleep disruption, and pain-related anxiety.
This is the screening step the typical post-accident pathway skips. We don't.
Step 2 — Physician-Led Diagnosis
Dr. Mahmood personally reviews your history, imaging, and screening results, performs a focused physiatric examination, and orders additional diagnostics only when they will change the plan. You leave the first visit understanding what is actually wrong and why.
Step 3 — Individualized Treatment Plan
Your plan is built collaboratively — with you, your physiatrist, and the rehabilitation team. It is outcomes-based, evidence-informed, and prioritizes non-surgical recovery whenever appropriate. When interventional procedures are indicated, they are explained clearly and performed precisely.
Step 4 — Coordinated Rehabilitation
Physical therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and behavioral health support are sequenced and supervised under one physician-led plan rather than scattered across unconnected providers.
Step 5 — Measured Progress
Recovery is tracked with objective, repeated measures — not just "how do you feel today?" If the plan isn't working, we change it. If it is, we keep going until you reach maximum medical improvement.
Echo PMR, PLLC offers convenient care across five locations, making it easier for patients to access comprehensive pain management and rehabilitation services close to home.
